Green Festival Expo at Jacob Javitz Center in NYC April 24-26th 2015

The Green Festival is coming around to New York City again! This time, at the North Hall of the Jacob Javitz Convention Center in Manhattan, which means more space, more exhibitors, and a wider selection of green products and services. It is bound to be the biggest show the expo has had in New York to date!

Now in its 14th year, the Green Festival will be celebrating Earth Day all weekend long, giving over 21,000 New Yorkers the opportunity to discover new, practical and totally easy ways to live more sustainable, healthier lives. The festival will have many looking forward to discovering thousands of products by new brands, local and national businesses and innovative and pioneering thinkers in the sustainability field.

To make the Green Festival even more green, the expo will be operating on clean energy through their partnership with Arcadia Power. Arcadia Power will purchase clean energy on the grid to match Green Festivals usage through power purchase agreements, ensuring that equal amount of energy is produced at pollution-free, renewable facilities through Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs).

Green Festival does its best to make the event zero-waste, and provides recycling and composting receptacles for all your different types of trash. Please leave no trace, and drop your waste into the appropriate bins.

It is not only a place to browse products and enjoy samples, it is also a place to listen and learn. All around the expo there will be hands-on demos and educational activities. The expos pavilions and stages will also feature yoga, and presentations from business entrepreneurs, community leaders, and environmental experts.

I loved my experience at the Green Festival in 2014. I just wanted to stay there all day talking to vendors about their amazing products. There were sustainable food options, sustainable and recycled fashion, natural body care products, and plenty of amazing things to use around the home from laundry, to a product that directs sunlight into darker spots of your home, to gardening. You can even be green in the after life, as there were also sustainable funeral and burial options to explore.

Doors will open on Friday, April 24th, and close Sunday evening. The Javtiz Convention Center is located on 34th Street near the West Side Highway. Tickets are available online at www.greenfestivals.org, but can also be purchased at the door. If you are a cyclist who uses the Green Festival Bike Valet provided by Cono Sur, admission is free! Youth aged 16 and under are also granted free admission. There are group discounts with persons 10 or more. Students, seniors and veterans also are given a discount. Admission to the expo includes exploration of all exhibits, workshops, speakers and films!

Not in New York? Dont fret, the Green Festival gets around! It will also be taking place in Washington, D.C June 5-7, Los Angeles, California September 25-27, San Francisco, California November 13-15, and Portland, Oregon on December 11-13.
